Lost Childhood Object

This project was something iv'e never done before and have never experienced. With my partner she described an object she used to make when she was younger and making forts. She would make her own dish-ware out of cardboard, color it, make designs, and then cover it in plastic wrap to make a plate she could use. When she was describing it I had to make the picture for what she was talking about in my mind. I wanted to take the same approach and make it with some of the same materials. It was awesome that I got to put my own take on what she used to make in hope for a good reaction. It was so much fun to make and even I felt like I was a kid again as I cut out paper and colored with stamps and markers. The experience honestly made me feel sad, it made me realize that we are out of that stage in our life and we we stopped being kids like that a long time ago.
My partner who was creating my lost childhood object did an amazing job. It was so cool seeing what she would make my stuffed animal dog out of and how'd she would get the different textures and colors, and she portrayed all that. I took time to describe Justice (my old stuffed dog who look just like my families first dog also named justice) and how her ears were a different texture than her body and the position Justice would always be in she translated perfectly into her recreation. It was so amazing to see a childhood object of yours that you described with just your words come to life in different materials, seeing the similarities that were put in just because of the words you said, and also how your partner also imagined your object and their interpretation of it as well.
