Meet in the Middle

 Meet in the Middle

For the meeting in the middle project, my partner Emily lives in Ocean View off campus and I am on campus. So trying to find our middle distance between each other was a bit challenging but quite the adventure. When we first met up to see our middle it was private property so we had to adapt and find a usable space for our installation. Right next to our middle destination was a small stretch where you could pull over and behind was what looked like a run down park/open space. As we were there trying to figure out what to do cars would zoom by not looking what was around them. So Emily and I decided to make three stop signs with one sort of cryptic word on each so it wasn't so obvious. The first with the word EASE, to signify slowing down. The second was STILL, to signify stopping. The last was RELEASE, to signify releasing off the break and going. All three of the stop signs show the motions or thought process of encountering a stop sign. But the sign could also mean something different or be interpreted differently like how we go through life. We stayed at the site where we installed it for about half an hour and kept the pole in the fourth photo up to see people reaction. Some laughed, some looked confused, and some didn't even notice. It was a very interesting project and experience getting to watch peoples reactions. We then left the signs just on the ground till the morning and Emily went to pick them up. It was a fun, meaningful, and interesting project that I loved creating with my partner.
